Our Under 15’s faced a tough challenge this afternoon as they welcomed Norton Woodseats to the ATP at Gosforth. The 2 sides only met a fortnight ago with our lads narrowly winning that one 3-2.
The lads were quick out of the blocks winning a number of corners, without making the break through. At the other end Ben made an outstanding save to turn the ball round the post.
About 15 mins in we made the breakthrough as Lewis made space in the box and squared the ball to the onrushing Henry
from midfield who’s low strike found the bottom corner. 1-0.
Into the 2nd half now and the game was so tight, with most of the play between the 2 18 yard boxes. After a sustained period of pressure we bagged the vital 2nd….a long throw from Kingz wasn’t properly dealt with by the Norton back line, and eventually Kane made space for himself in the box to fire home a low drive from 15 yards. 2-0.
We comfortably saw out the remaining 15mins or so to secure a big victory against an excellent side and big promotion rival.
There were a few contenders for MOM but Jimmy Sinclair’s
all action display won the day as he was up and down our right hand side all game, defending and attacking in equal measure.
That victory sees our Under 15’s go top of the league with 5 games to go. Some big games remain though
