Our Under 15’s travelled to Millmoor Juniors this morning, knowing that a victory would see them crowned Division B Champions.
They’ve had some good battles with Millmoor over the last few seasons and knew to expect a tough game against a side who were champions of Division C only 12 months ago.
The game was end to end throughout with not too many clear cut chances and it was likely that one goal may win it.
Fortunately for the AFC Boys that goal came for us midway through the first half. Kane made a good run down the right and was brought down 25 yards from goal. Az bent a wicked free kick into the box which was met by Leo
who chested the ball into the net. 1-0.
That proved to be enough and these lads will competing in the top Division at Under 16’s.
Special mention for Kingz today who was brilliant at the back and didn’t put a foot wrong all game. Outstanding and the clear choice for MOM.
Coach Mark had this to say on his sides title winning result, “It wasn’t pretty today, but we knew it wouldn’t be. Millmoor are always a tough side to play, especially at home. The boys dug deep and saw out the game brilliantly in the 2nd half. Me, Jon and Ross are immensely proud of the whole squad”.
This is a great achievement for our Under 15’s who have claimed their 3rd successive league title
after being told by certain people that they wouldn’t be able to make the jump up to Div B level…….how wrong were they
