Our Under 7 Blacks had a dominant display at home against Greasbrough in the cup.
From the get go we took charge, with our customary fluid style of football. Quite how we didn’t score in the first half is beyond me; Seb with some fantastic set piece efforts, off the bar/post and with some great keeper saves to keep it all level.
Syd, Jake and Rory additionally had some fantastic chances; Rory creating lots by demonstrating his new-found ambidexterity. Ethan came close but ultimately we came in at half time 0-0, the opposition having only managed to get maybe one or two chances against a strong defensive display.
The second half kicked off at a fast pace with some player rotations injecting a little more energy. Seb was able to really create chances dispite his deep position, as Syd was playing with real maturity and always ensuring cover. The deadlock was eventually broken, Syd scoring from a rebound just inside the oppositions area.
The game quietened down a little but we won a free kick just inside the oppositions half. Seb stepped up, hitting a monstrous ball forward that eventually bobbled past the keeper. Ethan finished the day with a wonderfully finished left foot effort and the ground erupted with rapturous applause as the team joined him in celebrating doing forward rolls.
A truly memorable display that could well have finished even more in our favour. It’s been a privilidge to train these young men, and watch them grow.
